Ya-ya's birthday!
September 11, 2005 11:38PM (MYT)

i had a strange feeling when ah-mi asked me with intention if i wanted to join them for dinner tonight. without much thoughts, i said no and left for my foot reflexology with babee. after that, i met up with aunt AM and her other half at "Cravings" to pick up the mooncakes that babee had pre-ordered from her aunt. babee had always enjoyed this special non sweet recipe from The Flame days.
during dinner somehow, i asked aunt AM what date is it today, she replied 11th lo...i jumped up swearing S**T! it is my father's birthday tomorrow! immediately i called ah-mi and she said they were on their way down to Ting Heng for steamboat with other friends. i told her that i will come down to KL later to meet them. i asked her why she did not tell me just now that it is ya-ya's bithday tomorrow, she said she also cannot remember..then laughed wittyly. i told her not to be so pretentious, "you can't remember your boyfriend's birthday?" hahaha...she laughed and asked me to hurry down.
aunt AM and i went shopping in Giant sourcing for je-je's diapers and RE's mattress and all the other stuffs that she said she had to buy..."ngo yau ho toh yea mai" but at the time we left Giant, both were empty handed!
she brought me to Memory Lane to look for Patrick - The Red Dog and also TY Bear that was born on either 9th Nov or 27th Jan...don't have. Patrick was way too expensive so we left again...
at around 9.30pm, ah mi called my h/p, she told me not to buy a cake for ya-ya as he is afraid to be reminded of his age and the fact that he is getting old...i heard that and i felt sad, why do people have to get old? why can't human beings be imortal and there are other earths open to store them...
we arrived at Ting Heng, all in all there were 2 tables of his friends and only 1 cu-cu running about to accompany him. his face was glowing, he looked extra happy, there were 7 different types of liquor on the table. each one of his friends had brought a bottle. i chose wine, but i could not drink much as i started having headache due to the cigarette smell in there (i know this sounds absurd, though mami is a smoker, but still i cannot take too much of it). only 1 uncle was smoking and it causes so much of bad air...ya-ya asked me to bring je-je back first. so i did. i whispered to him not happy birthday but i will eat with u tomorow night as it was not 12am yet. he was happy that i remembered and said ok, ok...
Happy Birthday pui pa...this is what i call ya-ya from young..."pui pa" means "fat father" in hokkien and he calls me "pui kia" meaning "fat child". till today he calls you, Reeve "pui kia kia" - "fat child's child and Renee - "piu chiong" - fat pomfret. don't ask me why pomfret...it is just the way he shows his affection, i guess...
